Pipe
Foreman

We are looking for a pipe foreman to join our team. If you enjoy working outdoors, being a part of a team and mentoring others, we have a spot for you.

Cruiser Contracting is an established general contractor with experienced principals and dedicated employees. Cruiser Contracting constructs utilities and roadworks for all sizes of land development projects in the Okanagan Valley of British Columbia.

 

The Opportunity:

The Foreman will be responsible for supervising and coordinating daily activities of the crews, working with the Superintendent to plan work and coordinating with Dispatch to ensure all necessary resources (people, materials, and equipment) are in place each day.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Provide direction to the crews at the beginning of each day and then keep the crews updated and on track with the daily schedule, providing advice and guidance

  • Work with the crew, client and superintendent to understand upcoming requirements and communicate with the Dispatcher in organizing the daily activities of the job

  • Ensure forward planning in the ordering of materials and setting up sub-contractors for layout, delivery of supplies, density and pressure testing, proof rolls etc.

  • Responsible for communicating job progress, information and updates to inspectors and internal departments

  • Ensure pre-locate are performed for all existing utilities that may conflict with job site activities

  • Attend meetings to discuss job production, schedule, conflicts and provide toolbox updates to crews

  • Ensure accurate and daily reporting of timesheets and work orders are provided to head office

  • Organize and complete an inventory of materials at jobs end for removal from site

  • Responsible for training and development of crews

  • Understand and support full compliance with WorksafeBC requirements and incorporating health, safety & quality into all aspects of planning and executing projects and scope of work

 

Qualifications, Experience & Skillset:

  • Must have related construction experience

  • 5+ years of experience as a Lead Hand or Foreman with a solid understanding of all aspects of civil works - especially in pipe and road works

  • Knowledge of TOPCON GPS is an asset

  • Must be able to communicate positively and effectively with a variety of individuals

  • Strong mentoring and leadership skills - ability to coach and train all members of the crew while assisting them with responsibilities

  • Experience with reviewing plans and applying the knowledge to the work

  • First aid, confined space, and fall protection training is an asset

  • Flexibility with hours, including weekends if required.

  • Must be able to interact with professionalism and courtesy with all clients and members of the public

  • Ability to work outside in all types of weather, along with additional hours as needed (possibly weekends)

  • Must possess a valid Class 5 Drivers License with satisfactory drivers abstract.

  • Must be local to the Kelowna area

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Operate machine

  • Daily maintenance of machine

  • Ensure accurate and daily reporting of timesheets

  • Perform daily safety check before operation and after

  • Ensure machine is placed in safe position when not operating

  • Take preventative measures regarding machine systems

  • Take directions from ground crew

  • Knowledge on reading plans

  • Follow SWP for special operations

  • General bulk out, Loading trucks

Pipelayers

The Opportunity:

Cruiser Contracting is hiring for permanent Pipelayer roles in and around the Kelowna area. These positions are ongoing and come with a lot of opportunity for operators.

 

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Receive duties, delegations from the foreman and superintendent, and assist crew members execute these tasks

  • Ensure proper material inventory for assigned tasks

  • Complete installation of underground utilities with other crew members

  • Work on tight timeline

  • Able to problem solve through coordination with Crew Leader

  • Ensure quality of work meets or exceeds expectations

  • Attend meetings to discuss job production, schedule, conflicts and provide toolbox updates to crews

  • Work with construction equipment such as compactors, cut off saws and various hand tools

  • Ensure all small tools assigned to crew are cleaned, stored and maintained properly

  • Work closely with Crew Leader/Lead Hand to install conduit per specifications to correct grades/elevations

  • Ensure accurate and daily reporting of timesheets

  • Knowledge on reading plans

  • Follow SWP for special operations

  • Understand and support full compliance with WorksafeBC requirements and incorporating health, safety & quality into all aspects of planning and executing projects and scope of work

 

Qualifications, Experience & Skillset:

  • Must have related construction experience

  • 2+ years of experience as a pipelayer with a solid understanding of all aspects of civil works - especially in pipe and road works

  • Must be able to communicate positively and effectively with a variety of individuals

  • Physically fit and able to provide hands on assistance to crew members

  • Must be safety orientated

  • First aid training is an asset

  • Flexibility with hours, including weekends if required.

  • Must possess a valid Class 5 Drivers License with satisfactory drivers abstract.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Operator Screener and Loader

  • Daily maintenance of machine

  • Must be mechanically inclined and be able to troubleshoot, maintain, and repair equipment.

  • Ensure accurate and daily reporting of timesheets

  • Perform daily safety check before operation and after

  • Ensure machine is placed in safe position when not operating

  • Take preventative measures regarding machine systems

  • Follow SWP for special operations

  • Attend meetings to discuss job production, schedule, conflicts and provide toolbox updates to crews
